Hey Guys.. My sister needed a haircut really really badly so I thought hey, why not film it
I didn’t know how it would turn out so excuse the lighting and the angles of the camera sometimes .. tried my best! My lil cuz decided to sit in and watch us too so you might see him sitting on the bathroom counter wearing my shirt and watching us haha!
Anyways, are you guys interested in seeing different types of haircuts and how to do them? I thought I’d try this one out and if you found it helpful I could do some more maybe?
Remember that when you’re cutting hair at home, dont rush it! follow the steps carefully and you’ll find that its super easy to do
Also, if you decide that cutting hair at home is the best option for you, its good if you grab some higher end scissors (which can cost anywhere from $60-500) but it’s totally worth the price in the long run
Ill list out the steps quickly for you:
IT IS BEST TO DO THIS HAIRCUT WHILE THE HAIR IS WET!
1. Comb all the hair back so that there is no part
2. Use a comb and create a centre part going all the way back
3. Now create a part from the top of the head to the top of the ears
4. separate all four parts with clips (as you get more advanced at this, you wont need to clip every second)
5. start at the front and release the two clips
6. create a 1 in section in the middle of the head, taking 1/2 from each side from the part
7. comb that hair straight up
8. choose how much you want to cut and cut it. This will be our guideline. When you’re cutting, you can cut it straight for a blunt edge, or you can cut into it for more movement. Cutting INTO the hair is better for hair that is thicker.
9. Release the guide we just cut and blend it with one side
10. create a pie shape and comb up and cut. Repeat until you’ve finished the side.
11. Move onto the next side and repeat step 10.
12. Take a guide from the front and move it to the back
13. Create a 1 inch section going straight down in the back.
14. cut that section to the guide by combing it straight up.
15. start on one side and create pie shapes and comb straight up and cut.
16. repeat step 15 on the other side.
17. You have now cut layers in your hair! YAY!
18. If you want to cut a bang or create a shape by the face, part the hair from the top of the head to the top of the ear in a diagonal shape
19. tie the rest of the hair back.
20. create at triangle in the front and cut to your desired length. REMEMBER, As hair dries, it gets shorter!
21. use that as a guide and cut in an angular way by connecting the rest of the hair. Remember to be careful when cutting this area. You dont want to poke someone in the eye, and you don’t want to cut off too much!
22. Repeat the same thing on the other side
23. Blowdry!
and you’re done! I know it seems a little complicated! I tried to make it as easy as I could
I hope you enjoyed that video and if you’d like to see more of these then lemme know!
Happy Snipping!

thank you sweetheart
Hi! Can you post a clear picture of the back of your sister’s hair? Does it end in a blunt cut or to a point?
its more of a SLIGHT U shape in the back. the back of it is similar to my hair cut which u can find here on my blog
ill try and grab a pic of her when i can
thank you!!! i hate the layers that stylists do nowadays – mine always end in a point.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this awesome tutorial!! I just finished giving myself a haircut using your method and it turned out better than I could have hoped! My hair is about exactly as long as your sisters and the cut turned out looking just about the same. I probably wouldn’t have attempted this on myself if I didn’t have some haircutting experience and a professional pair of shears, but since I did – your video made it totally do-able. You totally just saved me the hassle and expense of going to a salon and HOPING that the stylist would catch my vision for what I was looking for. Thanks again!
Oh yes … and please do consider posting some more haircutting videos! I would definitely be all about watching those.
I did this to myself following your tutorial and it came out great!!! I’ve been trimming my own hair for years now but your tutorial made it more simple, fast, and professional looking! For the first time I didn’t end up going to a salon a few weeks later for a fix up!
Love it, you are gifted!
Do you have any pictures of the hair from the back?
Thank you so much for this! Best video ever. I did it to my own hair…it was kind of hard to get the pie shapes right, especially in the back, and my sections were far from perfect, but it still came out so well! I’m really happy.
can this work on side parted hair with bangs ?
like, what if you wanted to keep your side part and bangs
my hair is pass the middle of my back. I wanna keep the length but get the layers shown in the video. How do I do that?
Hiii Farah, I think this video is absolutely amazing! I wanted a cut like this like…forever D= LOL but hairstylists in Trinidad can’t do it like you do/= I’m hoping it could work though, but I have a permanent straightening in my hair, would that not give me as much movement as yours does? and how do you style your bangs? Cause w/ the permanent, my bangs are always flat and I’d like them to be side swept )=
If you replied it would be GREATLY appreciated! Keep the videos coming <3
Hi, thanks for the video! Do you trim the bottom of her hair first to get a fresh trim or does that naturally get cut when doing the layers? This was the exact cut I was looking for! Thanks
Great tutorial!! Can I ask what kind of products you like to use? (for example, what you used in this one) Thanks so much…great video!!
I have been looking for this kind of a haircut since FOREVER! Thank you so much and your sister and you have BEAUTIFUL HAIR!! and your both really very beautiful!!!
I’m getting my haircut soon so im SO EXCITED to get this haircut!!!
thank you and you really are talented!!
This is an awesome vid. Have you thought of posting other styles. You explain things so well!
I love this haircut and i will get it done next month when i am back to India. I have a question here. When i get any hair cut done in salon, it looks good the first day. Once i wash my hair, i dont get that look again. Can you share a video on how to blowdry a layered hair. Though i blow dry my hair at home using conair pro, my hair looks very dry. i dont get that shiny suttle look. Any suggestions here?
I have never cut hair but I want to cut my own just like yours…..can you show us how we would go about cutting our own hair? then my two daughters (who just love you so much) want me to cut their hair like yours also…..thank you for the tips on keeping your hair healthy…..your sister is beautiful like you…..Can I ask you how old you and your sister are?
Hey Farah Great job on all your videos i must say. Can you post more videos on layered hair cuts which has feathered side swept bangs!! I used this cut on my hair and i must say it came out fantastic. It was very well explained for a noob like me
Have a good one!!

Thanks any ways .
Absolutely excellent! This is the “supermodel” blowout that you always see but can never achieve – until now! I’ve cut my own hair for years and even though it’s 12:29 a.m. and I have Easter church in the a.m., I’m off to give myself a trim. Thanks for the terrific video – and you two are so gorgeous!
This was GREAT! I was able to do it on myself without making a joke of my hair! I’m hooked! Thank you so much for sharing and making a really useful video.
its sooo amazing zis haircut..will give it a try!!!plz show some other haircut also nxt time.
amazing zis haircut..will give it a try!!!plz show some other haircut also nxt time.
You are such a beautiful girl! I wish I had your hair and I have seen all of your video! Keep up the good work!!!!
what if I brought the hair in front of my face and cut it there instead of cutting it over the head? Would I get the same shape but less layers in the back?
Dear Dhukai,
Thanks for showing us how to cut layered hair! I think I will try this and save some money. I do have one question. How is this haircut different from combing all your hair straight up in a ponytail and cutting it? I’ve been thinking about the technique and it seems like it would produce the same effect. But then when I watch the video it seems different. Do you think you can explain this? Thanks! Your hair looks really good.
I really love the layers and volume in this hair cut but I’m not a fan of straight or rounded edges. Is it possible to alter this so it’s a V shaped hair cut but still maintain the really layered voluminous look of this?
Hi farah! After watching you videos for a year i finally decided to cut ny own hair this way. you made it so easy. i love how it came out . keep up the great videos! Thanks so much
I love how you did this video and cannot wait to try it. My hair is extremely thick and curly, most stylists are overwhelmed and honestly lazy at cutting my hair. I cannot tell you how many times I have spent close to $300 for a hairstyle and have walked out with 1/8th of the hairstyle I want, just in the very front of my head. This will save me so much money, and finally I will get the haircut I want. Keep up the great work
Ok so I just finished cutting and styling my hair and it looks amazing!!! I love all the small layers! Thanks Farah! I desperately needed a hair cut!
hi Hi
I watched your youtube for long hair cut
it is very nice.
please send some more hair cut domos for long hair
thanis
Amin
Hello-! I have long hair and have been paying at least $100 in a salon for the past 4 years, trying different stylists here and there, and it never turned out with the style I was looking for–usually mostly all one length with subtle layers resulting in not much of a”style.”
My friend found your video and we have been cutting one another’s hair using it for the past two cuts–This cut is the best I’ve had in years! Great tutorial–the instructions were the easiest for me to follow out of all cutting video’s I’ve found–not to mention a BEAUTIFUL and stylish cut for long hair.
Thank you so much and yes, please post more! Do you have any other techniques for cutting bangs/fringe. I’ve seen many videos that have you pull the bang section to the opposite side of the face and cut, but I can never get them quite as blended as I’d like.
Do you have other styles for long hair? I love this cut and would love to see more styles!
Thank you again!
Hey Farah,
I love your vids and I’m about try the almond oil and peppermint oil treatment… ButI was wondering ifI can get my hair cut like yours if my hair was previously cut ina V haircut? they did a disaster my hair so I want to fix it.
